Mahoning Township has a full time Road Department. The department’s job is to repair roads, install drainage facilities, plow snow, install signs, and other highway work. They also maintain the buildings and grounds of the township. Some work is also done on state highways under PennDOT contracts.

The township has 43.74 miles in the township road system plus 29.26 miles in the state highway system for a total of 73 miles of road.
